IMPROVED WORK
Counselling At School Counselling resulted in improved classwork together with improved relationships within the class and with teachers, the full-time school counsellor at the Hillmorton High School, Mrs E. M. Turtle, told the school’s board of governors on Monday night. Reporting on the first year of counselling work at the school, she said there had been a large variety of problems. Discussions were held with the pupils, and often parents and staff members were consulted. Parents were generally very willing to help, and the staff keenly interested. With counselling often unhappiness could be relieved, study habits could be improved, and difficulties with homework overcome, Mrs Turtle said. Plans to extend counselling work at Hillmorton High School include providing a special “introduction” period for third formers, and instituting of discussion groups among parents.
