ADDINGTON ANGLICANS

Early History Wanted St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Addington, is seeking information for a centennial history to be published next February. * The present vicar (the Rev. J. D. Froud) said a small history of the first 50 years of the parish was published in 1917, but more information, more documentation, and more about personalities of the parish are now wanted. Addington was originally associated with St Michael’s Church, Christchurch, and the first service in St. Mary’s, Church square, was held bn February 24, 1867. Mr Froud says he wants a good photograph of the original part of the present church (to which four additions have been made over the years) and also a photograph of the original wooden parish hall. Centennial celebrations will be held over the week-end February 25 and 26.
