SHIP SAILS AGAIN
Cargo Damage In Storm (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, March 7. The 5300-ton Union Steam Ship Company freighter Katea, which had to turn back in the Tasman Sea last week after striking a heavy storm, will leave Sydney again for Auckland tonight. Five new cars were badly damaged and one almost totally wrecked when they broke loose from their moorings as the Katea ploughed into 25ft-high waves and galeforce winds when she was 200 miles from Sydney. . The ship’s skipper, Certain B. E. Avery, of AucklanoLsaid the storm was one of "the worst he had encountered l in 30 years at sea. a The ship hove to for neariV eight hours as the crew struggled to secure the sliding cargo, before Captain Avery decided to turn back.
