Causes Of Death CA’.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 8. Delays in the preparation ' of analysists’ reports into the causes of some deaths in Aucki land were expected to cease ; with the hiring of an additional research chemist by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, the Government analyst in Auckland (Mr 0. H. Keys), said today. A new man will start tomorrow. Steps were also being taken to increase the staff to cope with the demand for reports, and to pursue some research programmes, Mr Keys said. A £7OOO infra-red spectrophotometer, a modern means of probing the constitution of drugs and poisons, was also being installed, said Mr Keys. Last month the Auckland Coroner (Mr A. D. Copeland) said that on recent occasions he had had to wait six months and three months for reports on the deaths of two Auckland women. There had also been delays on other reports.
