N.Z. BAND'S APPEAL
£30,000 Sought For Trip An appeal for £30,000 to send the National Band of New Zealand to Kerkrade, Holland, to defend its world title in July has been launched this week. The main appeal had gone to 8000 business houses, said the national secretary of the Brass Bands’ Association (Mr G. R. Mowat) in Christchurch yesterday. Car or office stickers, depicting a national bandsman, had been sent to each firm. The object of the sticker campaign was to ensure the widest possible support. Mr Mowat said members of the public who liked band music or who were enthusiastic about New Zealand’s band, could send donations addressed to Box 2375, Christchurch. AM donations would be acknowledged and given to a firm of public accountants, who were trustees of the appeal.
