SCARS BURNT

Panel Shop Fire Eight cars, all of them post-war English models, were severely damaged by fire which broke out in the panel-beating premises of Shepherd and Kime, 4708 Tuam street, late yesterday afternoon. The fire caused damage estimated at £4OOO. A welding job being earned out near leaking petroi is thought to have started the fire. The alarm was given at 4.15 p.m. and three engines from the Central station and one from Woolston attended The two cars nearest the seat of the fire were completely gutted. The building, of concrete block construction, was not badly damaged, but the cars, spare parts and paint were a blackened mess. There had been no time to get any of the cars out. There was some water tn the adjoining property of C. F. Cotter. Ltd., engineers, but the building was not affected by the fire.
