WORK AGAIN AT QUAY
Bus Service Reinstated The lunch-time bus service for watersiders working at Cashta Quay was reinstated yesterday after a meeting between representatives of the Lyttelton branch of the New Zealand Part Employers’ Association and the Lyttelton Watersiders’ Union. The secretary of the employers’ association branch, Mr J. Twomey, said the agreement would last to the end of the month, when national and local representatives of both parties would meet as a matter of course for negotiations. The Straat Madura was idle at Cashin quay on Monday morning after watersiders refused to go by bus to Cashin quay. The employers had dropped the lunch-time bus service because the amenities block at the quay had been opened. Work resumed on Monday afternoon.
