NINE OF 10 WERE DISQUALIFIED

(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) RASEN (Lincolnshire). ■Stewards disqualified nine horses in a field of 10 for taking the wrong course in a steeplechase at Rasen on Saturday. A big crowd at the meeting and millions of teiewsion viewers saw the mix-up occur at the tenth fence in the Cox Moore Handicap Steeplechase. The fence is a double obstacle, being divided to make an open ditch and a plain fence. The jockey, J. Buckingham, on Lira took the plain fence, while the rest of the field mistakenly jumped the open ditch. Lira passed the post lying second to Hyanna, but after an inquiry the stewards ruled

the fence had been properly flagged off. They disqualified all but Lira, an 8/1 chance.
