BOYCOTT DENIALS

Ambassador Meets P.M. (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 7. The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) and the French Ambassador to New Zealand (Mr Jean-Francois Duflos) today discussed at a luncheon their denials of French threats to boycott trade with New Zealand if New Zealand did not stop protesting about France’s forthcoming nuclear test.

Mr Holyoake was asked tonight what had been discussed at the luncheon. “It wasn’t what one would regard as a working luncneon,” Mr Holyoake said. Asked if the alleged French hint of the boycott had been discussed, he said: “We did discuss the fact. He and I had firmly denied such an imputation.”
