ENTRY TO ARMY
Minimum Age Lowered (N.Z Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 7. The minimum age for entry to the Regular Army has been reduced from 18 to 17 J years. The director of recruiting Lleirtenanit-Colonel H. L. Jones, said the adjustment had been made to help young men wishing to join the Army who in the past had to seek temporary employment while waiting to begin Army careers at 18. The reduction brings the Army into line with the Royal New Zealand Air Force. The age limit for the Australian and British armies for adult service is 17. Lieutenant - Colonel Jones said that parental consent would still be needed for by recruits under the age of 21. The minimum age for overseas service (20 years, or 19 with parental consent) will not be changed.
