Clay Fight In Toronto
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) TORONTO. The world heavy-weight championship fight between Cassius Clay and Ernie Terrell will now take place in the Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto on March 29. Mr Harold Ballard, the executive vice-president of Maple Leaf Gardens, told reporters: “The fight will take place in our building unless there is disapproval from the Ontario Government—but we have semi-approval. “We are aware the fight is on the run. but by holding it here we have got a chance to replace Madison Square Garden, in New York, as the site of big bouts.” The bout between Clay, recognised as the world titleholder since he defeated Sonny Liston, and Terrell, holder of the World Boxing Association version of the crown, will be over 15 rounds. It has previously been rejected in several cities in North America, including New York, Chicago, Pittsburg, Louisville, Montreal and the Montreal suburb of Verdun.
