FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anti-cyclone covering the central Tasman has become slow moving. A disturbed westerly airstream flows on to the South Island. Forecast: Canterbury and Marlborough.—South-westerly winds, decreasing and becoming variable; showers at first, mainly in the north: otherwise partly cloudy, with moderate temperatures. Outlook: partly cloudy. Nelson.—Moderate variable winds, southwesterlies freshening at times; variable skies; a few showers, chiefly on and near the ranges; rather mild day temperatures.
