CHANGE TO DECIMALS
‘Banks Need Two Days’ (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 4. If a smooth change to decimal currency was to be made New Zealand hanks would need a period of closure siriiilar to the period Australian banks were given, the deputy chairman of the New Zealand Bankers’ Association (Mr J. T. Andrews) Sal Althmjgh it was perfectly true that many Australian bank branches had not needed the two days’ closure in addition to the week-end to complete the change the banking system as a whole could not have managed to carry out the work in a shorter time, he said.
