Unions Support Rubber Workers
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 4. The Wellington Rubber Workers’ Union has received a vote of active support from other trade unions in its dispute with Dunlop (N.Z.), Ltd.
A special meeting attended by representatives of nine unions was held in Wellington today, the secretary of the Wellington Rubber Workers’ Union (Mr A. J. Neary) said tonight. A motion was passed which, if put into full effect, could cripple the transportation of Dunlop products. Mr Neary said other unions not present at the meeting had indicated that they would give full practical support. The unions represented at
the meeting were the Waterside Workers, Seamen, Storemen and Packers, Engine-driv-ers. Engineers (Wellington branch), Drivers (Wellington branch), Railwaymen, N.A.C., Clerical Workers, and Electrical Workers (North Island) Unions. Mr Neary and the Wellington president, Mr B. M. Seddon, will attend a meeting on Monday of employees at Dunlop’s works in Woolston to report on the dispute at Upper Hutt
