PALISADE AND CAPTAIN’S COMMAND won a good double for Wingatui stables on the first day of the Wellington Racing Club’s autumn meeting on Saturday. The top jockey, R. J. Skelton, rode both horses. TOP: Palisade (No. 1) winning the H. R. Chalmers Handicap from Grand Filou, Sail Away and Worthy Chat. BOTTOM: Captain’s Command winning the Railway Handicap by a long neck from Home on the Range (No. 2). Misere (obscured) was third and Rohe Potae (No. 3) narrowly beat Wavering (inside) and Prince Hagen (No. 4) for fourth.
