High-Class Swimming fN.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Five New Zealand swimming records were broken at an inter-club carnival held in Wellington on Saturday evening. R. D. Walker was again inside the official mark for 100 yds freestyle with a time of 51.4 sec. ! Miss P. Chapman cut I.7sec off the 1963 record of Imin 36.65ec for the 133 l-3yd junior girls’ medley. Miss Toni Hazael recorded 80.6 sec for 100yds breaststroke compared with the New Zealand mark for girls under 14 of Imin 22sec. Miss Marion Coleberd, with a time of 75.8 sec, and Christine Deal, with 76.25ec, both bettered Miss Barbara Jonas's record of 76.65ec for the junior girls’ 100yds breaststroke. It was the best night’s swimming seen in Wellington for many years. and started with I. Trousdell recording 63sec for the junior I boys’ 100yds bacsktroke. This time cut 3sec off the Wellington record and was only 2sec outside the New Zealand record held by the Empire Games nominee, H. Brown.
