Survivor Escaped Almost Unhurt
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) TOKYO, March 6. Fritz Dieter Breetle astonished Japanese officials when he arrived pale and dazed at the Tokyo Airport terminal and said he had been aboard the Canadian Pacific Airlines DCB, which crashed on landing at the airport on Friday.
The 39-year-old West German businessman was probably the luckiest of the eight survivors aboard the jet which carried 72 crew and passengers from Hong Kong. He suffered slight leg injuries. Breede said: “I was in seat No. 78 just behind the wings It was announced that we would wait a little before landing because of deep fog
The second time they announced we were landing. “I unfastened by seat belt. That was my good luck. Suddenly there was a loud noise and the plane bounced three times violently. “A great crack opened just in front of me and I crawled out. I had to step over several pieces of plane wreckage. The plane then burst into flames. “About three others managed to get out. I just stood for a while dazed looking at the burning plane. Then, returning to my sense, I started toward the terminal building and was rescued. At the moment of the crash I remember hearing screams filling the aircraft. I did not lose consciousness, but before I knew it I was being helped by police and other people.”
