MEDALS IN DEMAND
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 6. High prices were paid for rare war medals and decorations auctioned in Auckland on Saturday. A Legion of Honour citation, Indian Mutiny Medal and Maori War Medal awarded to Lieutent T. Brovn, of the 35th Regiment in the 1860 s brought £64. A Naval general service medal dated 1840 which was in extremely good condition, with a bar for
Copenhagen In 1801, fetched £3B. A collection of medals awarded to an English soldier in 1815 was sold for £29. Other sales included: a selection of 88 British Army regimental badges, £26; a Nazi Star. £2O; a New Zealand Maori War Medal, £l9. A 1940 Fiji halfpenny in extremely good condition was bought for £8 5s and a 1941 Fiji florin for £6.
