Undergraduate teaching in the School of Physical Sciences is organised in the traditional disciplines of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. However research work in the school is based on a number of research groups and it is hoped that research in inter-disciplinary areas will expand. At the moment the major research fields within the School are functional analysis (especially transformation groups), oceanography, magnetohydrodynamics and plasma physics, theoretical physics, reactions at solid surfaces. structure and chemistry of the defect solid state, stereochemistry of flavan and of cvclohexane derivatives, O-het-erocyclic and N-heterocyclic chemistry. Applications are particularly sought from persons interested in research in these or related fields. The Flinders University of South Australia is the successor to The University of Adelaide at Bedford Park. The University is situated at Bedford Park seven miles south of the centre of Adelaide. For the posts In English, quali flcations in eighteenth or nine teenth century literature, and in English language, particularly Modern English, will be welcomed. For the posts in French, qualifications in any period of French literature from the sixteenth to the twentieth century will be welcomed; but any candidate willing to experiment with new courses and unorthodox methods of examining is invited to apply, irrespective of his special field of interest in English or French. For the posts in Spanish, qualifications in modern Spanish literature and Spanish philology will be welcomed; and at least one post is expected to be filled by a native Spanish speaker with the qualification of Licenciado en Letras or its equivalent.
