WARNING ON E.E.C.
Britain Urged To Join
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) BRUSSELS, March 3.
Mr Paul-Henri Spaak, Foreign Minister in Belgium’s caretaker Government, has strongly urged Britain to join the Common Market as soon as possible. At a luncheon in Brussels he said that those who argued that there was no urgency for Britain to join the community were deceiving themselves.
Time was working against Britain’s entry. As the community progressed and more and more common policies were adopted by the Six, It would become increasingly difficult for Britain to join, Mr Spaak said.
Native Police Chief.—A native police officer has been put in charge of a police station in the New Guinea Islands for the first time. A Bougainville islander, SubInspector Henry Tohian is now in charge of Tomaringa police station.
