SECURITY GAOL
Completion In Auckland (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 3. The £35,000-plus new security wing in Auckland Prison, which will hold the nation’s most troublesome prisoners, was handed over to the Justice Department this week. The wing will hold up to 14 inmates in maximum security conditions unequalled in other New Zealand gaols. Yesterday staff practised the rigid security measures, watched by the Director of Prisons (Mr I. J. D. McKay) and the prison superintendent (Mr E. G. Buckley). Inmates in the wing are expected to be drawn mainly from long-sentence men held in Waikeria since the Auckland Prison fire and riot. Their names will not be published
