Diamond Harbour Burgesses
The annual meeting of the Diamond Harbour Burgesses’ Association was held recently. Forty members, including the Mayor of Lyttelton (Mr J. B. Collett), attended. Awards for the garden competition were presented to the following: best road frontage, Mr J. Read (Dodds Cup); best garden viewed from the road, Mrs J. Keenan (Mr T. Greig’s award); best garden, Mr T. Greig (Garden Circle Cup); for work and planning, Miss A. I. Murray. Officers elected were: president, Mr G. Carson; vicepresident, Mr J. Keenan: secretary, Mr M. Robertson; treasurer, Miss M. Crinin; executive, Mrs P. Samuels, Messrs C. Hearn, D. Cameron, N. Kingston, B. Boyd, J. Bradley, W. Munday, D. K. Jarvis and J. B, Hughes.
Burnside P.T.A. Officers elected at the annual meeting of the Burnside High School Parent-Teacher Association were: president, Mr C. Bishop; vice-presidents, Mrs J. D. Harrison and Mr W. G. Johnstone; secretary, Mrs 1 P. J. Dennis; treasurer, Mr 0. Thomas; committee, Mesdames D. Bennett, M. H. Gibson, H. J. Gibbertson, R. J. Hanton, N. R. James, D. M. Lawry, J. R. Ragg, N. Timms; Messrs J. E. Anderson, L. G. Havard, W. G. Hughes, N- O. Hobbs, K. Lythgoe, F. H. J. Pheloung, C. A. B. Stevenson, G. A. MacKay.
