Seven Drivers Strike

(N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, March 4. All seven drivers for Certified Concrete (Manawatu), Ltd., walked off the job this morning, suspending deliveries of ready-mix concrete to all construction sites in Manawatu. The drivers decided to strike at a meeting early in the morning, after rejecting an offer of a slight rise in award rates made by the company, according to the secretary of the Wellington Drivers’ Union (Mr K. G. Douglas).
