Slight Rise In Prices

SYDNEY, Feb. 10.
It was announced yesterday that bread and petrol will cost slightly more in decimal currency from Monday. The Prices ■ Commissioner for New South Wales, Mr J. A. Newbigging, said that the Sydney delivered price of a standard 21b loaf would increase from Is 9d to 18 cents and a half loaf from lOjd tn nine cents.
The Sydney price of standard grade petrol will increase from 3s lOd a gallon to 38} cents.
Banks throughout New South Wales yesterday reported their busiest day as the four-day shut-down before the change to decimal coinage drew near.
Coin deposits were a record, and bank withdrawals jumped as people prepared for the closure. Australia’s 5000 bank branches closed at 3 p.m. and will remain closed until Manday.
