Army Wants Clay

(N.Z .PA.-Reuter—Copyright) LOUISVILLE.

The world heavy-weight boxing champion, Cassius Clay, said yesterday he had been informed by his draft board that he is now acceptable for military call-up.

Up to now, the 24-year-old champion has been classified as 1-Y, meaning he is exempt from military service because he failed to meet the required standard on Army intelligence tests.

Clay said: “They told me I would be reclassified.” He added: “I don’t know what happens now. I Just roll with the punches.”
