Wellington Wool Firm On Timaru

(N.Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, February 11. Prices at the Wellington wool sale today were firm on those at the Timaru sale, especially for coarse crossbreds and lambs wool.

But yields for crossbred wools were slightly down on the Wellington sale last month. Prices for Southdown wools were on a par with the last sale.

The whole crossbred range was sold at prices ranging from l|d‘ per lb to 3d per lb less than for the January sale.

Prices for lambs’ wool were, however, up noticeably on rates at the last sale. Both lamb crossbred and lamb seconds rose about 3d per lb. The offering of 24,982 bales was showing the effects of adverse weather during the season, but, the official report said, considering the weather, the condition of the wool was good. There was a full bench of buyers, and competition was described as general.
