Robin Dundee’s Owner Rejects Yonkers Offer

“The Press” Special Service

INVERCARGILL. Mr J. W. Hewitt, of Mataura Island, has decided to reject a written American offer made during the wek for his champion pacing mare, Robin Dundee. The offer, made by Mr Martin, Tananbaum, of the Yonkers Raceway, New York, was aimed at getting Robin Dundee to Yonkers for the international series next April and keeping her there for the following series in 1967. All expenses for her trip and training in the United States would be met by Yonkers if she was unsuccessful. It was expected that they would amount to 22,000 dollars. Otherwise they would be deducted from winning stakes. Over and above that, Mr Tananbaum offered to return Robin Dundee to New Zealand with a foal at foot and in foal to any

stallion Mr Hewitt wished to nominate.

Mr Tananbaum telephoned Mr Hewitt on Thursday after Robin Dundee’s great performance in winning her heat at Harold Park, and said that the offer would remain open until February 25, which was the deadline for leaving to go to the United States.
