Airport To Close
(N.Z. Press Association) ROTORUA, Feb. 8. Tauranga airport is likely to close between April and November this year for the construction of the new sealed runway. Mr C. G. Marchant, secretary of the airport committee, said today that the eightmonth period set down for the sealing of the runway was so far only a tentative arrangement ' ecause tenders for the job did not close till February 15. Dates of closure would probably be decided at the end of the month, he said. The National Airways Corporation has arranged to run a bus service to and from Tauranga while the airport is closed. Coaches will be run between Tauranga and Rotorua and Tauranga and Whakatane for the transportation of passengers.
