SCLEROSIS SOCIETY

£4335 Received During Year A successful year, culminating in the completion of the Multiple Sclerosis Society’s new welfare centre, was reported at the annual meeting of the Canterbury society on Monday. The treasurer (Mr D. Smith) reported that £4335 had been received during the year in donations, £lOOO less than the previous year when a Golden Kiwi grant had been received. He said the society required only £l6OO before its new property was freehold. About 60 members attended the meeting, including several from Timaru who plan to form a branch there. Several members of the society will go to Timaru on February 24 to assist with the formation of the new branch. The following officers were elected: —Patron, Sir Francis Adams; president, Mr R. S. Williams: vice-president, Mr G. N. Saunders; secretary, Miss N. Vale; treasurer, Mr A. Barker; solicitor, Mr I. White; auditor, Mr M. C. Tipping; committee, Messrs C. W. Deal, N. S. E. Robilliard, L. Ewen, M. Busby, M. Knight, Mesdames J. McGrath, J. Johnston, F. S. Miller-Mead, N. Machin, H. Wales, W T . McNaughton, Misses B. Dobier, K. Foster and B. Webb.
