HILLMORTON H.S.
New Rooms In June A new block of classrooms at the Hillmorton High School was expected to be ready for occupation in June, the headmaster (Mr P. W. Murdoch) told the board of governors on Monday night. Two prefabricated classrooms had been erected to cope with all enrolments, which totalled 658 when the school reopened last week. Mr Murdoch said the actual enrolment fell short of what was expected by only two. Enrolments in the fourth form were the heaviest, totalling 220, while there were 209 in the third form, 175 in the fifth, and 54 in the sixth. Plans were being made to harvest a crop of potatoes and beans to be sold in aid of the gymnasium fund. Land to grow the crops had been made available by well-wish-ers.
By next month, Mr Murdoch said, he expected that the fund would have reached £2OOO, which included between £BO and £9O from a scrap-metal drive last December.
