American Youth As Cricketer

An American schoolboy who is more used to playing on a baseball diamond hopes to master the intricacies of cricket during his 12 months’ stay in Christchurch. He is Bill Center, aged 16, of Fort Bragg, California, who is an exchange student at the Hillmorton High School. The headmaster (Mr P. W. Murdoch) told the school board of governors on Monday night that the lad had adapted quickly to his new surroundings. He had taken a fancy to cricket and hoped to get into one of the school teams.

Mr Murdoch said he wanted Center to join the school council and later speak to the school and to parents.
