MARIST’S FOURTH

j New League Signing A member of last year’s championship-winning Hornby Rugby league team. R. J. A. McKenzie, yesterday signed transfer papers to play for Marist next season. McKenzie, a strong, consistent club player, has played senior football for Hornby over the last three years, either as a prop or as a hooker. He recently moved from Hornby and said yesterday that it would be easier to play for a club that held its training sessions in the city rather than travel out to Hornby at least twice every week. He is the fourth senior Rugby league player to join Marist this season. The others were the South Is-land representative and New Zealand trialist, M. H. Mohi (from Papanui), the former Papanui forward. B. Lawrence, and R. M. Tawhai. the former Linwood wing. The signing of McKenzie, Lawrence and Mohi, plus the return of P. L. P. Doig is expected to strengthen a Marist pack that was noticeably lacking last season when the club slipped from fourth to seventh place in the championship.
