B.A.C. 1-11
Sir, —The late unlamented Dr. Goebbels was a child at his mother’s knee in comparison with the propagandists of the B.A.C.’s sales team They apparently will succeed in selling N.A.C. an aircraft which it does not want, by means of appeals to sentiment. shrewd whipping-up of public opinion, full-page newspaper advertisements, etc.— all of which, I suppose, must be accepted as legitimate persuasions in their campaign. But when they find it necessary to employ coercion (I am pleased to see that at least one New Zealand newspaper has the courage to call these mailed-fist-in-velvet-glove tactics by a much more appropriate term) it is time that the Government told them where to get off. I suggest that Mr Wilson be notified that Mr Stonehouse’s veiled threats are not likely to popularise him with the average Kiwi.—Yours, etc..
