Guest Staff For Day
(N.Z. Press Association) NELSON, Feb. 7. The centennial edition of the “Nelson Evening Mail," IM years old on March 5, will be produced by members of the community. The “Mail” was the first daily newspaper in the province. The guest editor for the day will be the Mayor of Nelson (Mr D. N. Strawbridge). He will have as his executive editorial staff Mr of Richmond (production editor), and Mr J. L. Borlase, chairman of the Waimea County Council (agricultural editor). Prominent citizens in other centres of the province will act as reporters and their
S. A. Whitehead, M.P. for Nelson (news editor), Mr W. E. Rowling, M.P. for Buller (chief reporter). Mr W. E. McCullough. Nelson Town Clerk (pictures editor). Miss B. J. Eyre (women’s editor), Mr M. J. McGlashen, Mayor
articles published that day will carry bylines. Guest district staff will include the Mayor of Motueka (Mr H. H. Thomason. chairman of the Golden Bay County Council), Mr H. L. Riley, the Mayor of Westport, Mr H. H. Watson, and Mr B. C. Spiers, of Murchison, chairman of the Nelson Education Board. The editorial for the centennial issue will be written by the Bisbop of Nelson, the Rt. Rev. P. E. Sutton, and a prominent amate.ir photographer, Mr B. B. Given, will be press photographer. On the managerial and production side Mr S. Harris, manager of 2XN, will act as manager for the day, and Mr D. Calwell (harbour board engineer) and Mr G. A. Toynbee (city engineer) will be guest production engineers.
