BOBBINET WINS AUCKLAND LEG
(New Zealand Press Association)
AUCKLAND. Bobbinet capped a couple of sound placed performances with a decisive win in the Otahuhu Handicap, the mailt event on the first night of the Auckland Trotting Club's February meeting at Alexandra Park on Saturday.
Glenurquhart, which made most of the pace, looked the winner at the furlong with most of his opponents struggling to get near him, but Bobbinet came away with a brilliant run and won, going away, by two lengths. John Dee came home well to deadheat with Glenurquhart for second. The Otahuhu Handicap was the first leg of the T.A.B. double. The second leg, the Railway Handicap, was won easily by the hot favourite, Swartz Pete. The double paid £26 Ids for £l. The weather was fine and the track fast.
