(N.Z. Press Association) HASTINGS. In spite of having earlier beaten the title-holder, Rangitikei, Hawke’s Bay could not match the positional play and bitting of Wanstead in the final of the Dewar Cup polo tournament at Hastings on Saturday. Wanstead beat Hawke’s Bay, 6-3. In the junior event, for the Gatonby Cup, Wanstead B and Whareama drew, 5-5. The open handicap final was won narrowly by Wanstead C, which beat Hawke’s Bay D, 28-27. Tukituki beat Rangitikei B for the Lyon’s Handicap Trophy.
