Big Scores Plentiful Runs flowed in bounteous quantities, and at ridiculous pace, on Banks Peninsula on Saturday. United and Le Bona each lost only two wickets in passing 200 and. in the day. there were five innings scores of 200. Wainui, dismissed for 63 and 135, was the only side to fail. Le Bons batted only 100 minutes in its innings, winning with an hour to spare, and United batted for two hours for 297. Paul Haglund, an amazingly consistent batsman this season, made 156 not out for United, his fourth century of the club season. M. Dunbier, who has batted well for Kaituna. was the other century-maker and was unbeaten. The outstanding bowler was United's R. Kay. A leg-spinner, he took nine for 63 and narrowly missed having the tenth batsman caught. For the same team, in the first innings, the accurate I. Plummer took six wickets. The only other bowler to do well was P. Johnston. He had a fine double for Le Bons, following up his six for 101 with 80 not out. Scores:—

United 297/2 dec. (Paul Haglund 156 not out, D. Marshall 80, Peter Haglund 37 not out: D. McGuiness 2/25) beat Wainui 63 (I. Plummer 6/30, Peter Haglund 3/30) and 135 (E. Harrington 48: R. Kay 9/63) outright. Le Bons 237/2 (D. Masefield 48, L. Inwood 23, C. McKay 81 not out, P. Johnston 80 not out) beat Akaroa 227 (P. Cooke 59, T. Haley 60, J. Carrodous 84; Johnston 6/101, Masefield 2/39).
