PRIZE WINNING GARDEN
Mr and Mrs M. F. Carthy yesterday won the Sladen Cup, the premier award of the Christchurch Beautifying Association, for the best garden viewed from the street in Christchurch. The photograph show s their garden at 8 Allister avenue.
Their entry won the highest points of any garden entered in all sections of the competition. More than 60 gardens in all
parts of the city were entered and judges spent eight hours inspecting them. The judges in seven sections were Messrs J. Watling, J. Thomson, D. Riach, R. Proctor, S. C. Challenger, A. Morgan, J. A. Martin and F. Broadhurst. The judges for the Fitzroy Cup, awarded to the best garden in a street with underground reticulation, were Messrs G. Manning, O. Mitchell and W .D. Johnstone, Results were:—
