N.Z. Officer Returning

(N.Z. Prets Atsn—Copyright) BIEN HOA (South Vietnam), Feb. 6. The second in command of 161 Battery, Captain Murray Connor, left Bien Hoa for New Zealand yesterday. Captain Connor, who flew out in a Royal Australian Air Force Cl3O, is being evacuated for medical reasons. He has an injured back. The battery's administrative officer, Captain Connor Jed the artillery unit’s advance party to Bien Hoa in i the middle of last year to prepare for the arrival of the main force. i

Since then, largely due to his efforts, the base has taken on an appearance of permanency.

Tents are gradually giving way to wooden structures, and now there are six 40ft by 20ft buildings, three messes, a canteen, kitchen and office, at the base. Captain Connor will be returning to Gisborne. His replacement is expected to arrive at Bien Hoa later this month in the New Zealand Air Force aircraft that will return to New Zealand with the first 14 of the mar i ried battery members whose tours in Vietnam have ended.
