Postage Stamps
Sir, —It is a pity the Post-master-General is still repeating the false information given him, no doubt, by the Post Office. By 1967 the current stamps will have been on sale for the same time as the two preceding sets, not for a “comparatively short time.” However, he has admitted at last that the present designs are being kept to save money! One Australian stamp dealer bought £4OOO to £5OOO worth of the current set on the day of issue in 1960, of which at least £4OOO was profit to the Post Office—more than enough to cover artists’ fees from one order. At a time when the Govern-
ment is trying to promote exports civil servants should be trying to set an example, not trying to save a few hundred pounds and losing thousands by doing so.—Yours, etc., DISGUSTED COLLECTOR. February 3, 1966.
