Building Council

WELLINGTON, February 3.

The Commissioner of Works (Mr P. A. Laing) has been named chairman of the Building Advisory Council.

Constitution of the council, established to advise the Goveriment on New Zealand's birilding requirements, was announced today by the Minister of Works (Mr Allen). He said the council would watch closely to see that building industry resources were shared proportionately between local authorities, private sectors and the Government

The council will meet toward the end of February. It comprises Mr Laing, Mr A. G. Wells (Master Builders’ Federation, deputy chairman), and Messrs J. L. Mair (Institute of Architects), E. R. Garden (Institution of Engineers), W. A. Lane (Master Builders’ Association), W. F. Molineux (Federation of Labour), J. T. V. Baker (Department of Statistics), N. S. Woods (Department of Labour) and J. D. Lang (Treasury).
