ESCAPED UNHURT

(N.Z. Press Association)

AUCKLAND, Feb. 4.

Three textile workers escaped uninjured after a vain attempt to stop a fire which destroyed an old house in Queen street, Onehunga, this morning. The blaze burnt about £2OOO worth of textile waste, stored in the building by J. A. Witter and Company, Ltd., textile waste merchants.

The factory manager, Mr R. Mason, was in the house, processing textile cuttings with two women employees, when flames shot up from a stove about 10 feet away.
