The truck hit a power-pole after the collision. The pole snapped and the power lines fell on the truck. The truck was set on fire. The fire spread to a gorse hedge and a paddock of stubble. The truck driver suffered only very slight injuries. The truck was carrying one ram, which was not injured. The car driver, Jack Lancelot Bigham, aged 66, of Ashley Gorge road, Oxford, was taken by the Rangiora St John ambulance to the Christchurch Hospital. His condition last evening was fairlj) satisfactory.

The accident happened about 3 p.m. The sheep truck was driven by William George Condon, of Coalgate. The Cust Volunteer Fire Brigade and two tenders from the Eyrewell State Forest were called to the fire.
