STUDENTS BARRED
Unsatisfactory Progress
A high proportion of the 74 students recommended for exclusion from certain lectures at the University of Canterbury because of unsatisfactory work last year will be barred by decision of the Professorial Board. The cases included 24 recommended for exclusion from the faculty of arts and three from certain subjects; 27 from science and six from certain subjects; seven from engineering; six from commerce; and one recomniended for exclusion from the whole university. If a student fails to pass at least two subjects in wo successive years his record is laid before the faculties concerned. Their recommendation goes before the Professorial Board. Before making its decision the board may allow the students concerned to make whatever representations it thinks fit.
