FIGHTING BUSHFIRES

First Lesson For Prince

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright)

MELBOURNE, Feb. 3.

Prince Charles’ first lesson today at his new school at Timbertop was how to fight bush fires. The lesson came as the Victorian country fire authorities warned of high bush fire danger around the wooden school which is in a heavily-timbered area.

Masters and a Timbertop graduate, Stuart McGregor, aged 17, who will be Prince Charles’s companion, explained the school’s fire ghting system. The Prince was shown how to build fire breaks and pump water from a nearby dam.
