Youth Dies
(N.Z. Press Association) TE KUITI, Feb. 2. An 18-year-old youth was fatally injured in a bush accident today at Waipa Valley, 24 miles south of Te Kuiti. He was: Martin Gordon Meyer, son of Mr and Mrs J. W. Meyer, of Kopaki. The accident occurred about 9.30 a.m., when Meyer was crushed by a falling tree. He died in the ambulance on the way to the Te Kuiti Hospital.
‘ Westport Jolted.—A short but sharp earth tremor jolted Westport at 7.43 p.m. yesterday. The earthquake, which lasted between four and five seconds, was accompanied by a rumbling noise.— (P.A.).
