OPENING NIGHT

At this year’s opening night of the Canterbury Women’s Club, held recently, the club president, Mrs L. P. Bennett, welcomed a large attendance of members and their husbands.

A programme arranged by Mrs J. H. Cocks was compered by Mr.W. Hamilton. Mrs Nola Hamilton led a group of Irish singers and dancers, and Mrs N. McPherson led’ another group who entertained with Maori songs, stick games and poi dances. The accompanist was Mrs E. Higgins. Vocal solos and duets were sung by Mrs Anne Rennie and Mr Colin Campbell, accompanied by Mrs Colin ' Campbell, and piano duets were played by Mr Eric Cornwall and Mr Graham Russell. Mrs G. E. West thanked the performers, who were presented with flowers and small gifts.
