LUSAKA (Zambia)
A Zambian white farmer was being threatened with deportation because he refuses to apologise for playing for the South African Rugby team which toured New Zealand last year, Associated Press reported.
This was disclosed by Zambia's Home Affairs Minister, Mr Nza Chona. who described the player, A. W. MacDonald, as “intransigent.” “We have almost gone down on our knees to ask him to apologise, but he refused to do so,” he said. "We have the impression that he would play for South Africa again if he were given the chance.” MacDonald farms at Zimba, in Zambia’s southern province. He said that if he were asked to play for the Springboks again he would regard it as a “great honour.” He went on tour with the team only after a lengthy battle with the Zambian Government, which has banned sport with or against South Africa.
