THE FIRST PIANO TO BE TAKEN TO SOUTH CANTERBURY being played by the Rev. R. H. Tripp, vicar of Methven, at a reunion at Orari Gorge station of the descendants of Charles and Ellen Tripp, who settled at Orari Gorge 100 years ago. The piano was taken by the Tripps first to Mount Peel station, and it is the one that Samuel Butler was delighted to play during his occasional visits from Mesopotamia to Mount Peel.
