CENTRALISED COURSE
Invercargill Prospect
The Press’* Special Service INVERCARGILL.
The Invercargill Trotting Club has decided to attend a meeting, initiated by the Gore Trotting Club, to discuss the possibility of all Southland trotting clubs securing a centralised course for trotting.
The meeting, to be held in March, probably in Invercargill, is expected to be attended by representatives of all Southland trotting clubs. The meeting will consider the possibility of all trotting clubs in Southland formulating a plan to secure a property on which trotting could be centralized by the formation of an all-weather racing track.
The trotting training track on the Red Band Lodge property of the Southland Racing Club will be closed from January 31. No alternative training facilities have been made. About 30 horses trained at Invercargill will be affected. The half-mile training track was foriped about three years ago, when the five-furlong racing track was laid at Invercargill.
Decimals In Bahamas.—The Bahamas will switch from pounds, shillings and pence to decimal currency on May 25. The Bahamian dollar will equal 7s sterling.—Nassau, January 18.
